Obituary

Suzanne Gail Bond, 66, of Cross Lanes, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 12, 2022.

She was born on December 11, 1955, in Charleston, to the late Harold and Maxine Nickell.

Suzanne started working at Charleston Memorial Hospital assisting patients as a volunteer Candy Striper for several years through high school and after graduation from East Bank High School. After earning her associate degree from Morris Harvey College (University of Charleston) she started her career as a medical records transcriptionist at Charleston Memorial. Suzanne continued to work at the hospital for over 47 years as it grew into the present CAMC Memorial Hospital. She retired in 2020 as E.K.G. supervisor.

She was a member of Cross Lanes United Methodist church, where she always had a warm and inviting smile and such a giving heart. Suzanne enjoyed going on camping trips and made it to 48 states. She was a dedicated and avid bicyclist. Suzanne loved taking pictures, particularly at Longwood Gardens in Pennsylvania, where she would admire and photograph the beautiful flowers and scenic gardens. She also very much enjoyed playing the piano. Suzanne adored her grandchildren and always looked forward to spending time with them.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Kellen Hodges.

Suzanne is survived by her loving husband of 30 years, Bruce of Cross Lanes; three children, Mekell Welcome (Matthew) of Cross Lanes, Sara Corrales (Enrrique) of Daniels and Justin Bond (Adrianne) of Cincinnati, OH; grandchildren, Alexandra, Bentley, Delanie, Reese and Madelyn; and her sister, Sally Nickell of St. Albans. She was loved by so many more family members and friends that are now left to cherish her memory.

A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 20, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with Rev. Pete Thompson and Pastor George Webb officiating. Burial will follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes.
