Thelma Gibson Anderson, 84, of Cross Lanes, formerly of Dunbar, died Monday, November 11, 2013 from her courageous battle with cancer.
She was born October 31, 1929.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Lillie Gibson and brother, Jackie Gibson.
She is survived by her high school sweetheart and husband of 65 years, Joe Anderson; daughters, Beth (Dan) Kimble of Nitro and Barbara (Chris) Conner of Cross Lanes; three grandchildren, Sarah Kimble, Seth Conner and Mia Conner; brother, Stanley (Diana) Gibson of Point Pleasant and sister, Connie Boardman, sister-in-law, Ruby Gibson, brother-in-law, Jim (Anne) Anderson all of Dunbar; many nieces and nephews and her grand doggy, Nala.
She was a faithful member of Cross Lanes United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women, where she served on several committees and assisted with Missions. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Chapter 133, Dunbar. She once served as a Girl Scout Leader. She was employed as a Personal Shopper by The Diamond Department Store. She graduated from Dunbar High School in 1948.
She loved to spend time with her family, enjoyed camping, making crafts, seasonal decorating, gardening and many other activities.
Thelma was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother, making sure her family was healthy and had faith in God throughout all things.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to the CLUMC family for providing meals, phone calls, visits and, most of all, their love and support. In addition to the church, the family wishes to express their appreciation to Hospice House West, her Hospice Home Team, caregivers, Kit, Susan, Pam and Debbie and many others that considered her part of their family.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, November 15, 2013, at the Cross Lanes United Methodist Church with the Rev. Gary Nelson and George Webb presiding. Burial will follow in Grandview Memorial Park, Dunbar.
