Obituary

Thelma L. Yates, 78, of Dunbar passed away peacefully Friday, September 5, 2008 at Thomas Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, Richard L. Yates, Sr., her mother, Edith D. Bossie, father, George W. Bossie, sister, Phyllis J. Feldhaus, and brother, George U. Bossie.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, son, Richard. L. (Dickie) Yates, Jr. (Teri) of St. Albans, daughters, Lisa Cavender (Gary) of Dunbar and Molly Hylton (Darrell) of Hurricane. She is also survived by brothers, Jack R. Bossie of Charleston, Frank A. Bossie of Melbourne, FL, sister, Rebecca J. Lemley of Poca and dearest friend, Wanda Myers and husband Jerry of Dunbar. She leaves behind 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren who will always love their Nanny.

Her family was her life and she was a great friend to her neighbors. She spent the last ten years of her life caring for every need of her husband during his battle with Alzheimers.

She and her husband were members of both Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Nitro and Christ the King Catholic Church in Dunbar over the years. Her faith in Christ never wavered.

Her children would like to thank Father Manuel Gelido for his kindness and support throughout the loss of both of our parents. We are also very grateful to Dr. Michael DeWitt and her caregivers, Vickie, Cathy and Rose who provided continual loving care to our Mother.

Mass of Christian burial will take place Tuesday, September 9, 2008 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 1504 Grosscup Avenue, Dunbar. Visitation starts at 9:30 a.m. with the service starting at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Cunningham Memorial Park.

Arrangements are in the care of Keller Funeral Home of Dunbar.
