Theodore Lewis Thornton, 83, of Charleston, passed away December 17, 2023, after an extended illness.

He was born on March 15, 1940, in Keystone, to the late Joe and Claire Thornton.

Theodore was an Army veteran and retired from Union Carbide, where he worked as a pipefitter. Prior to his illness, he served as a deacon at Liberty Missionary Baptist Church. He was an avid baker and cook, and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Helen Smith; brothers, Carl and James Thornton; and stepson, William Lee.

Theodore is survived by his wife Ruby Thornton; stepson, Edward Lee; grandchildren, Markeeya, Ebony, Essence, and Myles Lee; and many family and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, January 3, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with Rev. Jerry R. Staples officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Memorial Park, Dunbar.

Friends may visit one hour prior to the service at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
