Traian Baciu, 84, of South Charleston, passed away March 2, 2006 at his home after an extended illness.

He was a retired manager of the accounting department for Union Carbide in South Charleston. Mr. Baciu was a member of the Garfield Masonic Lodge in Indiana and was treasurer of the Capital Soil Conservation District. He was an Army Air Corp veteran of WW II, having served as a pilot and navigator. Mr. Baciu was born and raised in Indiana and resided for many years in southern California. He was an avid fisherman and loved farming.

Surviving are his wife, June Baciu; sons, Timothy Baciu of South Charleston, Peter Baciu of California and Patrick Baciu of Virginia; brother, George Baciu of Munster, IND; sisters, Anne Baciu of Munster, IND and Mary Nash of San Diego, CA; grandchildren, Sarah, Morgan, Jessica, Teresa and Dana.

A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Monday, March 6 at Bethel Baptist Church, South Charleston, with the Rev. Joseph E. Wolfe officiating. There will be a reception at the family's home following the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to HospiceCare, 1143 Dunbar Avenue, Dunbar, WV 25604.
