Obituary

Tressa Elaine Martin Hirsh, 88, of Charleston, passed away Friday, July 14, after an extended illness.

She was formerly employed by Mary Lee Candies in Charleston, Tom's Market in Dunbar and by Haddad's in Spring Hill. She was a graduate of Charleston High School and was a member of First Church United Methodist in Dunbar. Mrs. Hirsh was a longtime resident of Charleston and was a former resident of Dunbar. For the last four years, she resided with her caregivers in Griffithsville.

She was preceded in death by her previous husband, Harold Martin, her parents, Roy and Carney Flowers of Charleston, her daughter, Linda Senkler of Knoxville, Tn, brothers, Mayford "Bud" Flowers and Calvin Flowers and her sister, Verba Pauley.

Mrs. Hirsh is survived by her husband, Donald H. Hirsh, daughters, Tonie Garrett and her husband, Dieter of St. Albans and Dawna Kessler and her husband, Danny of St. Albans; step-daughters, Diane Pennington and husband Gene of Charleston, Judy Penza and husband, Jim of New Jersey and Donna Lude and husband, Mike of Charleston; brother, Leroy Flowers and his wife, Peggy of Savannah, Ga.; grandchildren, Scott Mattson and his wife, Courtney of Ramona, Ca, Kirsten Mattson of St. Albans, Ashlee Burgess of St. Albans, Kimberly Blair and husband, Jimmy of Knoxville, Tn, Bret Senkler and his wife, Kim of Knoxville, Tn, Heather Robinson and husband, Mike of Knoxville, Tn ,
Shannon Kessler of Tampa, Fla, Shaun Kessler of St. Albans, Lindsey Kessler of St. Albans; great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Mattson of Grand Rapids, MI, Christian Mattson of Austin, Tx, Garrett , Cole and Chance Mattson of Ramona, CA, Tyler Blair, Madison Senkler and Elena Young all of Knoxville, Tn; She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Words cannot express the love, devotion and care given by Diane and Eddie Johnson and their daughters, Tiffany and Rachel Johnson and Tommy Adkins and Imogene Black of Griffithsville for the four years preceding Tressa's death. Diane is the "daughter and sister of heart" of Tressa and family.

A heartfelt thanks for the members of HospiceCare who attended to Tressa in the last days of her life: Sherry Wooten, Sallie Starkey, Jolene Wiseman, Jack Schultz, Beth Plantz, Barbara Little and Debbie Hubbard.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, July 17 at First Church United Methodist, Dunbar, with Retired Pastor John A. Mason, Pastor Eddie Johnson and Rev. Dr. Okey B. Harless officiating. Burial will follow in Jones-Flowers Cemetery, Elkview.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, July 16, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.

The greatest blessing is a family of God and love. Tressa's life exemplified her love of the Lord, her family, her church and community. Precious in His sight is His servant and our mother, wife, and grandmother, Tressa E. Hirsh.
