Tyler James Smith, 24, of Charleston, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 15, 2021.

He was born on February 11, 1997 in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Tyler was a fun loving friend to everyone he came in contact with. Besides spending time with his friends and family, he loved playing football and basketball. When Tyler wasn't beating his cousins and friends on his video games, he was cheering on his favorite football teams, the New Orleans Saints and Maryland Terrapins. Tyler loved to make people laugh and he always wanted to be the class clown. He had an infectious smile, a big heart and always saw the good in everybody. Tyler gave the best hugs. Your memory we will always treasure and in our hearts you will stay forever.

He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, George and Stephanie Skierka; and his paternal grandfather, Jimmie Don Smith Sr.

Tyler is survived by his mother, Barbara Hannan of Charleston; step-father, Bill "Billiam" Hannan III of Charleston; sister, Courtney Dial and husband D.J. of Fayetteville; nieces, Riley Nicole and Bailey Shea Dial; step-brother, Liam Hannan of Charleston; step-sister, Ella Hannan of Winfield; half-brothers, Jimmie Don Smith III and wife Amy of Colorado, Todd Smith of Virginia; half-sister, Heather Smith of Virginia; step-grandparents, William Jr. and Denise Hannan of Alum Creek, A.J. and Sheila Foster of Campbells Creek; and a host of family and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, March 22, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with Rev. Greg Hudson officiating.

Friends may visit one hour prior to the service at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
