Ulysses H. "Jack" Gibson, a lifelong resident of Dunbar, began the journey to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 31, 2011 in Thomas Memorial Hospital after a short illness.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Lillie Gibson also of Dunbar.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ruby (Guthrie) Gibson; daughters, Linda (Randy) Thomas of St. Albans, Lisa (John) Taylor of Weston; son, David (Cristina) Gibson of Savannah, GA; grandchildren, Chris (Abby) Thomas, Melissa Thomas, Becky Thomas, Zack Taylor, Ian Taylor, Robert (Alexandra) E L Gibson, Jonathan Gibson and Alyssa Gibson; Indian foster daughters, Poonam (Sachin and Saya) and Deepali (Veru and Riya); sisters, Thelma (Joe) Anderson of Cross Lanes, Connie (Mike) Boardman of Dunbar; brother, Stanley (Dianne) Gibson of Point Pleasant; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and countless dedicated friends.
After serving our country in the Air Force during the Korean conflict, Jack began a 40 year career with Union Carbide Corporation as a developmental and research chemist and received numerous honors and accolades. His life was devoted to promoting unity and fellowship among all Christians and was a worldwide ambassador for Christ.
Friends are invited to visit with family on Thursday evening, February 3 from 6 to 8 p.m. a celebration of life service will be held on Friday, February 4, at 1 pm, all at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with graveside service immediately following at Grandview Memorial Park in Dunbar.
