Vance Hill
Jr.
December 2, 1957 – March 13, 2026
Vance Hill Jr., 68, of Charleston, West Virginia, and a native of Fayetteville, North Carolina, passed away on March 13, 2026, at CAMC General Division.
Born on December 2, 1957, in Fayetteville, North Carolina, to the late Vance Hill Sr. and Easter Mae Lewis Hill. He attended Cumberland County Schools and graduated from Terry Sanford High School. He later completed some college coursework through the United States Army, where he proudly served from 1979 to 1986.
He retired on May 31, 2024, after thirty-eight years of dedicated service with the State of West Virginia, Offices of the Insurance Commissioner, where he worked as Supervisor III.
Vance enjoyed fishing and hunting, and he was a devoted sports fan. His favorite team was the Carolina Panthers, with the Pittsburgh Steelers as his second choice.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vance Hill Sr. and Easter Mae Lewis Hill; his in laws, Clyde Tyler Sr. and Thelma Tyler; his beloved aunt, Gladys Rose; his eldest nephew, Walter L. Hill III; and his brothers-in-law, Leo Frierson and Walter L. Hill II.
Vance leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife of forty-four and one half years, Linda L. Hill; his daughter, Vankisha L. Hill; his son, Jeremy D. Hill; his grandson, Nehemiah Hill who was like a son to him; and his granddaughter, Giana Titcher-Hill. He is also survived by his siblings, Jennifer M. Hill, Linda J. Frierson, and Michael A. Hill (Cassandra), all of Fayetteville, North Carolina; his best friend and brothers-in-law, Keith Johnson Sr (Connie) and Clyde Tyler, Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family extends heartfelt appreciation to Charleston EMS and the fire department, Dr. Susan Cavendar and her staff, Dr. Matthew Walker and his staff, and the CAMC General Division staff for their care and support.
Family and friends are invited to attend the wake from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 20, 2026, at Keller Funeral Home 1236 Myers Avenue, Dunbar WV 25064.
A private service for family only will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar with Elder Yolanda Tyler officiating. Interment will follow at Donel C. Kinnard Veteran's Cemetery.
Arrangements are in the care of Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
