Vaun Elizabeth Haas, 97, of Charleston, passed away on June 29, 2010 at Hubbard Hospice House surrounded by her loving family.
She was born to the late Edward H. and Elizabeth J. Board in Smithers, on January 12, 1913.
She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a dedicated member of Brown United Methodist Church and was an active member of the United Methodist Women's Society up until this past year. She was always happiest when she was surrounded by her family and church family. Her passion was quilt making and all of her children and grandchildren rest beneath those quilts at night.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George J. Haas; son, James H. Haas; and daughter, Rosa Lee Painter.
Vaun is survived by her daughters, Mildred Marie (Roy) Sewell of Smyrna, GA, Reva Mae (Bob) Clark of Twinsburg, OH, Linda Sue Haas of Charleston, Deborah Jane Haas of Charleston, Donna Jo Haas of Dunbar; daughter-in-law, Patsy McCormick Haas of Charleston; and son-in-law, Keith Painter of Cross Lanes; 11 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 9 great great grandchildren.
A service to honor the life of Vaun Elizabeth Haas will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, July 1, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with the Reverend Corbet May officiating. Burial will follow at Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes.
Family and friends may visit from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, June 30, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
