Velma Lea
Mcmillion
May 30, 1939 – December 28, 2022
Velma Lea McMillion, 83, of Charleston, went home to be with the Lord on December 28, 2022.
She was born on May 30, 1939, at home to the late Oscar McMillion and Hallie Kiser McMillion.
Velma was a woman who could be defined by her love, kindness, and faith. She worked for forty years at Charleston Linen until their closure and then worked at the Sissonville Wendy's, until she retired in 2012. She taught Sunday School for many years at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Guthrie, WV.
Velma loved cooking meals for her family, watching television game shows, solving crossword puzzles, crocheting, studying the Bible, watching sports, and most of all she loved singing her favorite hymns. She was also a loving mother and grandmother.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Michael "Deanie" McMillion; her brother, Marple "Bucky" McMillion; sister, Linda " Susie" McMillion Barnette and Brenda McMillion Curry.
Velma is survived by her daughter, Kimberly McMillion Miller, of Alkol; grandson, Travis Miller, of Sissonsville; sister Betty McMillion Mays, of Cross Lanes; and a host of nieces and nephews whom she loved as her own.
In lieu of of flowers, Velma would like you to sing a favorite hymn and dedicate it to her. She'll be singing along with you.
Services will be held at a later date.
