Velma E. Reed's Obituary
Velma E. Reed, 82, of Dunbar, passed away Thursday, February 18, 2010, at the Hubbard Hospice House.
She was a charter member of the Elizabeth Baptist Church on Wolfe Pen Drive and was a retired custodian for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for 31 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raleigh E. Reed, sons, Michael L. Reed, Melvin Howard Reed, II and Raleigh Eugene Reed, Jr.
Surviving are her daughters, Donna Jean Thaxton and Karen Sue Reed of Dunbar; grandchildren, Kenneth Lee Thaxton, Lisa Dawn Thaxton, Linda Baldwin, Starr Saddoris, Melvin Howard Reed, III and Michael Baldwin; great grandchildren, Dymonte Daniels, Hayden Thaxton, Samantha Campbell, Telay Daniels, Jaylee Hill, Jayden Hill, Jasiena Baldwin, Gary Smith, III and Michael Melvin Reed.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, February 22, and due to conditions at the cemetery the service will be held in the parking lot of the Elizabeth Baptist Church, Wolf Pen Drive, with the Rev. Walter Means officiating. Burial will follow in Thaxton Cemetery. There will be no visitation.
Arrangements are in the care of Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
