Vesta Amelia Coleman's Obituary
Vesta Coleman 98 of Dunbar, WV went to her heavenly home the morning of October 18th, 2014 at Genesis Healthcare in Dunbar.
Vesta was the youngest of thirteen children born to Joseph and Martha Mitchell on August 9, 1916. Vesta's parents passed away when she was very young and her along with her youngest brother were raised by their older brothers and sisters all of whom have preceded her in death.
Vesta will be greatly missed but will always be remembered as a woman of tremendous faith and hard work. She started her working career at Fletcher Enamel Company and ended with her retirement from Murphy Mart. Vesta was a devoted member and faithful prayer warrior of Dunbar First Church of God.
Vesta was a loving Mother of 7 children (5 boys and 2 girls) and a very treasured grandmother whose love knew no bounds for her 15 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren. Her love and devotion will live on in each one of their lives.
In addition to her parents, brothers and sisters Mrs. Coleman was also preceded in death by her sons Norman Thomas Coleman, John Carol Coleman, Paul Ray Coleman, her granddaughter Sandra Coleman, daughter in law Patricia (Patty) Coleman and son in law Edward (Eddie) Carnell.
Mrs. Coleman will be missed but not forgotten by her sons: David Coleman (Barbara) of Missouri, Terry Coleman of Dunbar, Daughters: Karen Jean (Bill) of Dunbar, Denise Carnell of North Carolina, Daughter in law: Evelyn Coleman of Dunbar, sister in law Inez Mitchell of Dunbar, her grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 22, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar with Dr. Larry McCallister Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Memorial Park.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 21, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
The family would like to thank Hospice Care, the workers at Genesis Healthcare of Dunbar, and Dr. Chris Bowman for their wonderful care of our Mother, Grandmother and Memaw.
