Obituary

Virginia Dell Cassle, 89, of Dunbar, passed away on May 31, 2013, in Heartland of Charleston.

She was the daughter of the late Della Kingery Young and Posie Kingery. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Woodrow Cassle and sisters, Melba Early, Vivian Elswick, brother, James Kingery and step-grandson, Charles Ellison.

After growing up in Yawkey, she worked at the Naval Ordnance Plant in South Charleston during World War II and after the war married Melvin and lived at Buckingham Air Force Base in Fort Myers, Florida, before settling in Dunbar. Virginia was also employed by Stone and Thomas Department Store for many years and also worked for Corbin in Dunbar.

She is survived by her son, Franklin and wife Victoria of Slatyfork and son, Stephen of Dunbar; daughter, Teresa of Hurricane; brother, Bill Kingery of New Smyrna Beach, Florida; granddaughter, Dana Cassle Baker and husband, Clint of Nitro; grandson, Christopher and wife, Amanda Cassle of Colorado; and step-grandson, Richard Ellison of Slatyfork. She is also survived by two great grandchildren, six step-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was a devoted wife, loving mother and dear friend to many throughout her life. Virginia was a Christian and a member of Dunbar Mountain Mission Church. She loved to garden, sew and cook for her family. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, June 6th at Grandview Memorial Park, Dunbar.

The family would like to thank the entire staff at Heartland of Charleston for the love and care provided for our mother and to Kanawha Hospice Care for the wonderful support extended to our family.
