Virginia "Ginney" M. Janney departed this life February 6, 2013 as a result of a short and sudden illness.
She was met at heaven's gate by her husband, Harry B. Janney; mother and father, Emory and Verna Summers; and sister, Zelma Summers; along with a host of friends and loved ones.
What a wonderful life she lived!
She was a graduate of Stonewall Jackson High School class of 1942. She worked for FMC Machinery Corporation and that is where she wrote letters to Harry during the war and later met and married him. She was just 6 hours shy of receiving her pilot's license. In addition to being a homemaker she was a bookkeeper for Skaff Engineering and Andrews Floor Cover. She was a cook for the First Presbyterian Church and was an accomplished seamstress, knitter with featured articles of the wedding dress she made for her daughter Lynne. She belonged to the Past PA and various dance clubs and loved to do the Charleston. She was the past president of the D.O.E.S., Women's Auxiliary for the Charleston Elks Lodge 202.
Ginney loved to golf, bowl, and play bridge and scat. She was one of the oldest and longest WVU Fan who tailgated up to 88 years of age.
Ginney opened her home at Christmas for over 40 years to friends and family to celebrate the birth of Christ.
There was no challenge she would not take and always found the outcome with ease and grace. She gave herself whole heartily and with no selfishness to her family and friends. She love unconditionally and showed that giving is so much better than receiving.
She lived life to the fullest and traveled roads too few would choose In order to show herself and her children there was nothing you can not accomplish in life and no road is too long.
Our mother, our best friend, who knew each of her children better than they knew themselves. She knew our strengths and weakness and made us learn thru everything that we did, even if we failed.
She was a wife, mother, friend, and an unforgettable person to all that met her and knew her. She had that aura that made you want to get to know her and love the truly remarkable woman she was.
She was faithful and trustworthy and God truly blessed her children with the best mother in their lives, for today, tomorrow and until it is our time to meet her once again at heavens gates.
Ginney is survived by her most cherished accomplishments, her children, Pamela Zitti of Garden City, NY, Steven W. Janney and wife Vicki of Charleston, Lynne Hicks and husband Michael of Morgantown, Terrie Janney of Charleston, and Charissa M Janney-Smith and Samuel Smith of Charleston.
