Walter "Cy" Tincher Jr., 90, of Charleston, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, January 5, 2018.
He was born on September 9, 1927, in Charleston, to the late Walter Sr. and Maude Tincher.
Cy was a graduate of Stonewall Jackson High School and was a WWII Army Veteran. He retired from Union Carbide after 43 years of service. He was a faithful member of Starcher Baptist Church for many years. Cy was an avid and well known flea marketer who enjoyed many years of buying, selling and collecting antiques with his beloved wife, Katie.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Katie Tincher; brothers, Joe Tincher, Howard "Bo" Tincher, John Tincher, Jim Tincher, Larry Tincher; sisters, Helen Wolfe and Betty Evans.
Cy is survived by his son, David Tincher (Debbie) of Winfield; daughters, Connie Hutchinson (Bob) of Scott Depot, Patti Campbell (Roger) of Charleston; grandchildren, Krista Antis of St. Albans, Maggie Tincher of Lexington, KY, Mike Hutchinson (Meghan) of St. Albans, Todd Hutchinson of Scott Depot, Jonathan Ziegler of Danville; great-grandson, Davis Antis; sister-in-law Betsy Tincher of Charleston; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give special thanks to Angel Avenue and HospiceCare for providing such compassionate care.
A funeral service will be held at 11a.m. on Thursday, January 11, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar with Rev. Thomas A. Moore Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery, Charleston.
Friends may visit from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 10, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to HospiceCare, 1606 Kanawha Blvd. W., Charleston, WV 25387.
