Wanda Pickens Arnott, 96, passed away on Friday, February 13, 2026. She left this life surrounded by love and the support of her family and friends.
She was born July 19, 1929 to the late Hubert and Mabel Pickens. Wanda lived most of her life and attended school in Dunbar, WV. After her six children received their high school diplomas, she proudly attained her GED at the age of 58.
Shortly after meeting the love of her life Kenneth Arnott, they married in 1949. Their marriage resulted in six children and lasted 67 years until his death in 2017. Wanda was a passion lifelong homemaker who loved to garden, cook, clean, babysit and sew for her family and friends.
Our mom was a lifetime member of Roxalana Gospel Tabernacle where she taught a Sunday preschool class for 55 plus years. Along with many other roles in the church she loved singing in the choir, serving in Ladies Aide and praising her Lord and Savior!
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by eight of her siblings; her daughter, Vickie Green; and son-in-law Dickie Fulknier.
Wanda is survived by five of her children, Judy Keller, Sharon "Peewee" Pearson (Jim), Steve Arnott (Deanna), Bev Williams (Frank), and Danny Arnott (Katie); 11 grandchildren, Jennifer, Jessica, Jonathan, Krystal , Heather, Ashley, Tiffany, Tara, Nathan, Maddy, and Rachel; 21 great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; and sister, Vada Miller.
The family wishes to especially thank Michelle Pickens, Wanda's niece/caregiver for all the loving care she has shown her over the last several months.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 17 at Roxalana Gospel Tabernacle, Dunbar with the Rev. Tom Price officiating. Burial will follow at Tyler Mountain Memory Garden, Cross Lanes.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m on Monday, February 16 and one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Roxalana Gospel Tabernacle Building Fund, PO Box 367, Dunbar, WV.
