Wanda Ellen Turley, 81, of Tyler Mountain received her angel wings and entered into heaven on September 29, 2012, at home, surrounded by family and friends.
Ellen was born on September 14, 1931, to Orion and Nellie Francisco, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Turley; the father of her children, Charlie Bill Lemon; and her oldest brother, Brady Francisco.
Ellen graduated from Dunbar High School and was retired from the Kanawha County Assessor's Office. She was a huge WVU football fan, loved spending time with family and friends, and attended McKinnon Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include her sons, Randy Lemon of Tyler Mountain, Roger Lemon (Sheridan) of Charleston, SC; daughters, Paula (Ed) Slusher and Pam Lemon both of Cross Lanes. She is also survived by her sisters Opal Tinsley, Midge Beaver, and Betty Randolph all of Charleston, Dolly Painter of Scott Depot; and brothers, Carl (Helen) Francisco and Bob (Betty) Francisco of Charleston, and Wayne (Leona) Francisco of Fraziers Bottom. Another survivor is Rosemary Briscoe of Nitro, sister by choice and friend of 53 years. Additional survivors are six grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, with another expected in April 2013.
Special Thanks to Dr. Ahmed Khalid, Dr. Michael Covelli, their staffs, and family members; who helped with her care. Thank you to neighbors Manny and Sharon Price who are truly family in more ways than one, and last but not least to Rosemary Briscoe whose devotion to our mother was truly a great blessing to us and whose generosity can never be repaid.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, October 1, 2012 at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday,October 2, 2012 at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with Reverend Doug Minnerly and Reverend David Bush officiating. Burial will follow at Bowen Family Cemetery.
