Obituary

Warren Glen Beverly, Jr., affectionately known as "Tiger", went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 15, 2024.

Tiger was a tremendous gift to the world, born on January 29, 1983 to the late Warren G. and Trina Y. Beverly of South Charleston, WV.

He was educated in the Kanawha County School System, and was a 2001 graduate of South Charleston High School.  Tiger was an avid member of the football, basketball, and track teams.  He received numerous honors, accolades, trophies, and awards for his outstanding performance as a star athlete.

Post graduation, Tiger attended Virginia Union University in Richmond, VA, Marshall University in Huntington, and West Virginia State University in Institute where he furthered his education in Sports Medicine, and continued on the path of star athlete.  He was a truly exceptional and remarkable athlete who gave his all on and off the field.

Tiger was an individual full of life, love, and laughter.  He loved cracking jokes to keep you laughing, and pulling pranks to scare you half to death.  He also loved  dressing up in numerous Halloween costumes as that was one of his favorite times of the year.  Tiger loved watching horror movies, his favorite tv show Martin, and his favorite football team, The Dallas Cowboys.

He loved his family, especially the Annual Christmas Dinner at his Great Aunt's, the late Clara Jean Burkes, home every year along with the family gift exchange at his Grandmother's, the late Gertrude N. Taylor, home on Christmas Day.  Tiger had a heart of gold, and expressed that in whatever he did in his personal life and the lives of his family members.

Tiger surrendered his life to the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 12, 2020, and later became a member of the Judah Praise Outreach Ministries in Beckley under the leadership of Overseer Benjamin D. and the late Charleen E. McKoy.  He would also attend worship services with his late grandmother, Gertrude, and Aunt Debbie Choice at the Ohio Street Church of God under the leadership of Pastor Rick and Cathy Tobia.

He was an hard working individual and held many different positions of employment including, Long John Silvers, South Charleston Recreational Center, and The Transitional Living Center until his health began to decline, causing him to become unable to continue working.
In addition to his father, Tiger was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Muriel Mitchell; maternal grandfather, Otis "G-pa" Choice; maternal grandmother and step-grandfather, Gertrude N. and Melvin H. Taylor; brother, Kenneth G. "Scoot" Daniels III; maternal great-grandmother and great-grandfather, Arthur and Helena Close; and paternal aunts and uncles, Agatha and James Beverly and Thomas Mitchell.
