Wayne Lee Casto, 81 of Dunbar, died Tuesday, December 11, 2012, at home following a long illness with his family at his bedside.
He was retired from West Virginia Steel, a very active member of Dunbar United Methodist Church, a 50 year member of the Dunbar Masonic Lodge and the Scottish Rite Bodies in Charleston. Wayne was a man filled with humor; generosity and humility. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who dedicated his life to his family.
Wayne was born one of eleven children to Wade L. and Hattie Casto on a farm in Putnam County on October 11, 1931. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Dallas Lee Casto; brothers, Granvil, Basil, Delbert, Gay, Ray and Dennis Casto; sisters, Lenora Withrow and Faye Clendenin.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 62 years, Ilene Barnett-Casto; son, Loyd Wayne Casto (Robin); grandson Jason Michael Lamb (Jennifer); great granddaughter, Jessica Marie Lamb; brother, Curtis Casto; sister, Wilda Shedd, and many nieces and nephews that loved him very much.
The Casto family wishes to send a special thanks to all the staff at Hospice for their loving care during Wayne's final days of his illness.
There will be a visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, December 13, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, December 14, at the Dunbar United Methodist Church, 1401 Myers Ave., Dunbar, with the Pastor Okey Harless officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Memorial Park, Dunbar.
Remembrances of flowers are welcome or, keeping with Wayne's spirit, donations are appreciated to HospiceCare, 1606 Kanawha Blvd. W., Charleston, WV 25387 or to the Dunbar United Methodist Church.
