August 2, 1929 – July 4, 2017
Wayne Grey "Mac" McQuain, 87, son of the late Rev. Samuel Wayne and Nola Lewis McQuain, loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother and friend, went home to join his beloved wife, Norma and be with Jesus on July 4, 2017.
His love, smile, spirit and discipleship will be greatly missed.
Known as Grey to his family, he was the seventh child of nine growing up around Horner and Flatwoods. He was a graduate of the late Sutton High School and maintained lifelong friendships from those days over the years.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean War serving from 1951-1953 in Ludwigsburg, Germany with the 91 st AAA Battalion.
Known as Wayne or Mac to his many friends and co-workers, he retired after 45 years of service with WV American Water. Upon his retirement, he contracted out for WV American Water and worked part time for Keller Funeral Home in Dunbar for several years. Though he was short in stature, he was bigger than life in kindness and heart
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Brace, Glenn and Ray; and sisters, Grace, Ruth, Madge and Maye.
Wayne leaves behind his sons, David and his wife, Mary Kay McQuain of Morgantown, Gary "Mac" McQuain of Dunbar and Dale and his wife, Julie McQuain of Richmond, KY; brother, George and his wife, Carol McQuain of Beckley, sister-in-law, Jo McQuain of Parkersburg; grandchildren, Andrew, Samantha and Matthew; along with countless nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to HospiceCare, 1606 Kanawha Blvd. W., Charleston, WV 25387 or a church or charity of your choice.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 8, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar with the Reverend Teresa Markins officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Memorial Park, Dunbar.
A visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday, July 7, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
