Willard B. "Kayo" Ross, 88, of Dunbar passed away Friday, March 23, 2007, in Thomas Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
He was born September 3, 1918 in Clendenin and was the son of the late Ledrew and Emma Ross.
He was preceded in death by brothers L. M. "Mike" Ross, Everett "Fess" Ross, Carl "Chink" Ross, and sister Lola Merle Ross.
He was a graduate of Clendenin High School, Class of 1937, where he was class president. He retired from Huntington Banks, formally known as National Bank of Commerce in 1982, where he was the Building Manager. He was also employed by Goodrich - Gulf. He owned a diner in Clendenin in the 40's named "The Ross Diner". He served in World War II in the Navy as a Seaman First Class. He is also a member of the American Legion in St. Albans, a life time member of the Building Owners and Managers Association and a member of Humphrey's United Methodist of Dunbar.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Irene June Ross; son, Mike Ross of Charleston; daughters Pat Carroll of Procious, and Marsha Postle of Winfield; grandchildren, John Carroll and wife Kim of Ovapa, Steve Postle and wife Krista of Hurricane and Brook Carroll of Elkview; great grandchildren, John Ross Carroll, James Michael Carroll, Braydon Postle and Kylie Postle; brother James Ross and wife Ayleene of Clendenin; sister, Shirley Ross Young and husband Eugene of Dunbar; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, March 26, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with the Rev. Jim Richards officiating. Burial will follow in Koontz Cemetery, Clendenin.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, March 25, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
The family has requested that donations be made to Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston, 1001 Kennawa Dr., Charleston, WV 25311, in lieu of flowers.
