Pastor William H. "Bill" Frye, 81, of Charleston, came face to face with his Lord and savior, Jesus Christ on Thursday, October 8, 2009.

He died at home with his wife at his side. He served in the U. S. Navy from 1946 to 1948 on the carrier USS Kearsarge. Bill was proud of serving his country. He also served on the South Charleston Housing Committee. Temple Baptist Church was where Bill spent his final days serving the Lord, preaching and singing. All the church members loved to hear Bill sing, "May you ask me how I know my God is real." Bill was always quick to tell you that he was not perfect but he was forgiven by the grace of God. He was proud to say that the greatest serving were the years done for Jesus Christ.

He started preaching the gospel in 1955. He preached in Mason, Putnam and Kanawha Counties and was a pastor for many years.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Mary and William Frye; brothers, Charles and Jim Frye and a dear sister, Margret Turner.

He is survived by his wife, Catherine "Sue" Frye; step-children, Kelly George, Billy Boggess, Shelly Hitchcock, Eddie Boggess, Carolyn Bucklen and Judy McClanhan all of Charleston. He also leaves behind nieces and nephews and may grandchildren whom he loved and adored. He is also survived by a host of many friends.

In Bill's final days, his message was, "You can meet me again, get right with God. I will meet you in that city."

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, October 14, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with Pastors Dan McClung and David Sinclair officiating.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, October 13, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.

Bill's wishes were that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Temple Baptist Church, 412 21st Street, Charleston, WV 25312, in his memory.
