William George "Porgie" Hayes III

William George Hayes, III, also known lovingly as “Porgie”, 52, from South Charleston, WV, passed away suddenly on October 2, 2026. George was born on November 4, 1973, to William George Hayes, Jr. and Carolyn Jean Hayes.

George grew up in Dunbar and graduated from Nitro High School. He currently worked for the West Virginia Lottery as a maintenance technician. Prior to his current employment, he worked for Kanawha County Schools and the Rite Aid Distribution Center. George also enjoyed working in construction over the years.

He was preceded in death by his mother Carolyn Jean Hayes.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Christina Dye-Hayes; two daughters, Kendyll and McKenna Hayes; his father, William George Hayes, Jr.; his brothers, Bryan and Wayne Hayes; his mother-in-law, Janet Dye; his brother-in-law, James Dye; and his nephews, Travis Moore, Jacob and Josh Dye. George leaves behind several other family and friends.

A visitation of family and friends will be held on October 8, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar. Please dress down, wear your jeans, your work boots, your hats and be comfortable, as we all know, Porgie never went anywhere without a hat and never liked to get dressed up.
