William (Bill) Glen Keen, 79, of Dunbar went home to be with The Lord after a short illness on October 27, 2013 at the Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston.
He was born on June 2, 1934 and was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Opal Keen of Dawes, WV and his brother, Bob Keen of Chesapeake, VA.
Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Lorena Jane Keen; children, Terri Wells and husband Bruce of Moon Township, PA, Kara Jones and husband David of Winfield, WV and Patrick Keen and wife Susan of Midlothian, VA; grandchildren, Rachel (Josh) Romage, Jeremy (Whitney) Frame, Hannah Christy, Benjamin Frame, Vanessa Christy, Akelea (Stephen) McFadden, William Keen and Andrew Keen; great-grandchildren, Emma and Luke (Hannah), Abigail (Jeremy), Isaac and Sophie (Rachel) and Serenity (Vanessa).
Bill was an active member of First United Methodist in Dunbar, and taught the Inquirer's Sunday School class for over 30 years. He also founded the Dunbar Wine Cellar Classic 10k Run and Senior Walk in 1974 where it continues today. He retired from Union Carbide Corporation (Tech Center) after a 35 year career and continued in that capacity as a contractor through MTI, Inc. for over 20 years.
There will be a celebration of Bill's life at 11 am on Saturday, November 1, 2013 at Dunbar United Methodist Church, 1401 Myers Ave., Dunbar, led by Rev. Dr. Okey Harless. There will be an opportunity to visit with the family immediately after the service.
Bill donated his body for the advancement of mankind and health sciences through the West Virginia University Human Gift Registry.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Hubbard Hospice House 1001 Kennawa Dr., Charleston, WV 25311 and/or Dunbar United Methodist Church.
