Obituary

William "Bill" Delano Lepley, of St. Albans, passed away on April 14, 2010. Born in Rainelle, on March 23, 1934, he was one of twelve children of the late Raymond and Bertha Elizabeth Lepley.

The love of his life was his wife, Dr. Charmaine Lepley, his son, Timothy Lepley of St. Albans, his daughter, Pamela Hall of Phoenixville, PA, her husband, Tom and son, Brody. He is survived by his twin brother, Benjamin Lepley and his wife Renee of Clendenin; sister, Dorothy Spitzer of Cortez, Colorado, brother-in-law Tom Gunnoe and his wife Linda of St. Albans, and father-in-law, Arnold Thomas and his wife, Carrie of Marmet. He had several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters: Mereline Dooley, Mary Hamrick, Christine Lepley, Wynola Neely and five brothers: Eugene, James John, Robert and Raoul Dalton.

From September, 1954 until September, 1957, Mr. Lepley was in the United States Marine Corps. He served on active duty during the Korean Conflict. In May, 1961, he graduated from Glenville State College and began his teaching career in Kanawha County. He was first employed at Roosevelt Junior High School as a social studies teacher and a coach. He was later employed as a social studies teacher and the first coach at the newly constructed Hayes Junior High in St. Albans. He requested the help of the US Marine Corps of South Charleston to bring in heavy equipment to clear the ground behind the school to make a football field. He started a basketball program and, with the help of the shop teacher, he made equipment and started a track program.

Mr. Lepley was an active member of the St. Albans community. He was president of the Sun Valley Civic Association for several years. He worked with friends and neighbors to purchase property and to organize the Lakewood Swim Club. He was the first manager of the club and served several years on the Board of Directors. He was a member of the St. Albans Lions Club and enjoyed working in fund raising events.

In 1972, he opened Lepley's Bookkeeping and Management Services and continued until he retired. He served as president of the West Virginia Public Accounting Association from 1999-2000. For several years he was a member of their state board. Mr. Lepley enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and golfing with family and friends. He was proud of his "Hole in One" at the Esquire Club.

The family would like to express gratitude to the wonderful dedicated home hospice nurses and Dr. Taylor and staff at Hubbard House. We also wish to thank all our family and friends for their continued support. A special thanks to Robert Statton and Trish Van Way for their excellent care.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, April 19, at Keller Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Ravi Isaiah officiating. Burial will follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, April 18, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
