William
Meadows
July 27, 1930 – October 6, 2016
William "Billy" Meadows, of Cross Lanes, passed away on October 6, 2016.
At the early age of 19, he lost an arm to a railroad accident, but never let that deter him in life. It was never a disability. He became an accomplished postal carrier for many years and a successful ambulance driver. "Can't" was never part of his vocabulary. Keeping his faith in God and country, Billy was baptised in 1994, and was proud of this commitment.
If one could sum up Billy's life it would be "Live, Laugh, Love." He embraced life with joy and determination, no matter what obstacles were in his way. He LOVED to LAUGH and made everyone feel that life can be fun, no matter what you are going through. He was a great lover of animals (especially his beloved, Cracker, Champagne and Klinger), dancing, big band music, and old westerns and comedies. Abbot and Costello and the Stooges were always his favorites. He enjoyed sharing the silliness of life and did a great Donald Duck impression that always brought laughter to his son and granddaughter.
Having played football for Charleston High School, back in the day, he remained an avid sports fan who loved his West Virginia Mountaineers, The Washington Redskins and Cincinnati Reds.
Billy never met a stranger. He was always the first one to strike up a conversation and make friends everywhere he went. Whether he was enjoying his favorite country breakfast at Bob Evans or The Cracker Barrel, or just waiting in the doctor's office, he would leave a positive impression on others. Leaving a legacy as the "Man Who Loved Life" is his greatest accomplishment and one that makes his family very proud.
He was the loving husband of the late Bonna "Bonnie' Meadows
He is survived by his sister, Betty Adamski; son, Ed Meadows; granddaughter, Caitlyn; step-son, Rick Osborne; nieces, Mary, Theresa and Julia Adamski ; and nephews, Stephen , Thomas and Tommy Adamski.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Dr. Harris and staff, his caregiver, Deborah King and friend, Donna Strand.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 8, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar with Reverend Tom Price officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery, Charleston.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
