Obituary

Woodrow Neely Wolfe, 95, went home to be with the Lord on March 26, 2010.

After a long illness, he passed at his home in Dunbar, surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was the son of the late Grover and Lynett Wolfe.

Born September 8, 1914, Woody was raised in Cairo, and graduated from Cairo High School. He joined the US Civilian Conservation Corps and was sent to serve in Greenbrier County, where he met his wife of 70 years, Myna Boswell. He served in the US Navy during World War II and retired from Kanawha Steel and Equipment Company. Woody was a faithful member of the Methodist Church and was also a Gideon, focusing on the jail ministry.

In his younger years, Woody played semi-pro baseball and was an avid New York Yankees fan. He also helped in the preparation of apple butter in Burlington for 15 years to help benefit the children's home. He and his wife Myna were selected as host and hostess of the year for the National Forestry Service.

Woody is survived by his loving wife, Myna Wolfe; son, Joe L. Wolfe of Florida; daughter, Myna A. Tyler of St. Albans; brothers, Bob of Albuquerque, NM and Don of Parkersburg; sisters, Mary Hoover and Betty Watkins of Parkersburg, and Naomi Smith of Cairo; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Services will be held in the Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens Mausoleum Chapel at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 27, with close friend, Rev. Eugene Garlow, officiating the service.

Arrangements are in the care of Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
