Obituary

Zayola Mae Covert, 100, of Dunbar, formerly of Tyler Mountain, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 26, 2017.

Zayola was born on August 16, 1916 to the late Robert and Effie Allison.

In her younger years, Zayola had been a cook at Tyler Elementary. She was a member of Dunbar Church of Christ.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Roy J. Covert; son, Norman Covert; three brothers; and three sisters. She was the last remaining sibling out of seven children. One of her brothers also lived to be 100 years old.

Zayola is survived by her son, Wallace Covert and his wife, Jane, of Cross Lanes; daughter-in-law, Louise Covert, of Cross Lanes; granddaughter, Kelly Waugh and her husband, Dana; grandsons, Chuck Covert and his wife, Heather and Jeff Covert and his wife, Valerie; great-grandchildren, Derek and Drew Waugh, Allison and Aiden Covert, and Gracie Covert; and special friend, Brenda Roberts.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Hospice and the Hubbard Hospice House West staff for their kindness, compassionate care, and support.

Funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, January 30, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar with Minister Donnie Chapman officiating. Burial will follow in Cunningham Memorial Park.

Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
