Jo Ann
Zirkle
February 4, 1952 – April 27, 2017
On April 27, 2017 the world became a little less bright and Heaven a little more crowded due to the passing of Jo Ann Zirkle.
Jo was born on February 4, 1952. She lived the majority of her life in the Dunbar and Cross Lanes area. She graduated from Dunbar High School in 1970 where she acquired many precious and life-long friends.
Jo never met a stranger; she was very outgoing and a blast to be around. When you were with Jo there was never a dull moment. She loved to be with family and friends, playing cards (Rook), out on the dance floor dancing the night away, singing Karaoke, playing penny games at the casino, or relaxing on the beach. Trips with her were very memorable.
Jo worked at the YWCA Resolve Family Abuse Program at the Domestic Violence Shelter to ensure that battered women and their families were safe, a true passion of Jo Ann's. She later transferred to Mt. Olive Correctional Facility as a Case Manager. Several of her co-workers became valuable friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Milton and Betty Holley.
Jo leaves behind her loving family, daughter and husband Geri Ann and Jim Parsons; son, and wife James "Buddy" and Tina Zirkle; grandchildren, James (Taylor) Parsons, Alexis Parsons, Ashley Bryan, Tyler Hayes, Britney Zirkle; great-grandchildren, Aaliyah, Sophia and Grayson; brothers, Garland and wife Debbie Holley (she was more like a sister than sister-in-law), Benny Holley and girlfriend, Crystal; sister, Hazel and husband Thomas Bowen; nieces, Stephanie, Michelle and Chelsea and nephew, Chad. Jo Ann had MANY friends that she loved very much, too many to name, but know that her family appreciates them very much for sticking with her till the end.
The family would like to thank Hubbard Hospice House West for her final care. Dr. Cox and Dr. Hess for care provided throughout her illness. Also, special thanks to Kathy Shaffer for going above and beyond the bounds of friendship.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m., Monday, May 1, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
Friends may call 2 hours prior to the service on Monday at Keller Funeral Home, Dun
