Sue Ellen Dudding Sowards, 68, of Nitro, passed away Thursday, March 18, 2010 at St. Francis Hospital.

She was a member of the Sousanah Freewill Baptist Church in Culloden.

Mrs. Sowards was preceded in death by her brother, Leland Dale Mullins, her mother, Audry Jane Dudding and grandson, Travis Cooley.

Surviving are her husband, Virgil Sowards; son, Richard Cooley and his wife, Cindy of Deltona, Fla; daughters, Vicki Cooley Peecher and her husband, Jeff of Gladstone, MI and Sharon Cooley White and her husband, Harlan of St. Albans; step-son, Virgil Lee Sowards, Jr. of Canton, OH; step-daughter, Joyce Sowards Wixon and her husband, Ron of Bradford, PA; brothers, Gary Dudding and his wife, Linda of Louisville, KY and William Dudding and his wife, Mabel of Kingston, OH; grandchildren, Shane Rinehart, Jessica Peecher, Jacob Peecher, Scott Cooley, Amanda Barreto and Jennifer White; five step-grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, March 27, at the Sousanah Freewill Baptist Church, Culloden, with the Rev. Ronnie Brown officiating.
