Obituary

Walter Franklin Ranson, 101, of Dunbar, passed away Wednesday, October 3, 2012, at his residence.

He was born December 25, 1910 and was the loving husband of the late Tressie Meadows Ranson for 68 years.

He was a member of the Dunbar United Methodist Church where he served in many capacities. He was a former Dunbar city councilman and a 50 year member of the Dunbar Masonic Lodge, #159 AF & AM, Scottish Rite Bodies and the Beni Kedem Shrine Temple.

Walt was retired from Union Carbide and after retirement was a self-employed plumber.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three brothers, a sister and a granddaughter, Lynn Ranson.

He is survived by his son, Harold L.; daughter, Gwena "Snookie" Riley and her husband, Issac; granddaughters, Lesa K. Jones and husband, Jim, Terri Martin and husband, Randy, Sally McCoy and husband, Jr.; five great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, October 7, at the Dunbar United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Okey B. Harless officiating. Burial will masonic rites will follow at Grandview Memorial Park.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m., Saturday, October 6, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar and one hour prior to the service at the church on Sunday.
