G. JoAnne Smith, 92, of Dunbar, went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 19, 2023.

She was born on June 16, 1930 to the late Robert Bird and Lillian Bird of Clendenin.

JoAnn was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and her favorite activities were being in church and fishing on the pier with her family at Amelia Island, Florida. She is sadly missed by all.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 66 years, Marvin Larry Smith of Corton, WV; and her beloved son, David L. Smith .

She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Bayes (Jeff) of South Charleston; son, Mark S. Smith (Angie) of South Charleston; grandson, Mark Steven Smith Jr., of Portland, OR; granddaughters, Shannon Smith of Charleston, Amanda "Mandi" Roberts of South Charleston; great-grandson, Easton Bayes of Charleston. She is also survived by her beloved brother, Jim Bird (Barbara) of Melbourne, FL; beloved sister, Carol Dye (Gary) of Clendenin; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 24, at Dunbar Mountain Mission, Dunbar, with Pastor David Bailey and Rev. Ray Parsons officiating. Burial will follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes.

Friends may visit one hour prior to the service at Dunbar Mountain Mission, Dunbar.
